RFS FOUNDATION

Employment, wellbeing and community support for military families

RFS Foundation is on a mission to remove barriers to employment, wellbeing and financial stability for military spouses, partners and veterans through free wellbeing and support programmes, training and community services

Why We Care

We understand better than anyone how important support is for military families – because behind RFS Foundation are a team of spouses and veterans, who know how crucial being seen, heard and valued is.

For too long this community has been overlooked and forgotten. And we are not only here to raise awareness of this issue, but to change it for good.

Since 2011 RFS has been banging the drum on the brilliance of the military community and all who stand by those who serve in the Armed Forces. Encouraging employers to recognise the unparalleled talent, the resilience, the drive in all of you. Calling for more flexible, remote opportunities. Providing free training and support and coaching and mentoring services which have changed lives.

Now, the RFS Foundation wants to take things further and offer more than ever before. More free resources and tools, more free courses and employment support and further access to the wellbeing and financial support you deserve.

We recognise that for many, this is much deeper than employment. It’s a sense of self, purpose and identity. It's about boosting confidence and feeling like your own person.

We get it, because we’ve been there.

And we are by your side every step of the way.

How RFS Foundation Works

All donations fund charitable work which provides free services and support to military spouses, partners and veterans through the RFS Foundation registered charity.

RFS Foundation is funded by public donations, grants, and profits gifted from Recruit for Spouses CIC. Donations fund only charitable programmes — all our services are free or subsidised for spouses, partners and veterans. RFS Foundation is separate from RFS CIC and all donations fund support for military families only - never commercial services.

"As a military spouse, we don't put ourselves first. The military takes the lead and we follow. This means sacrificing our own goals, so to have the support of the RFS team to help me reconnect with mine has just been amazing." - Becky

Alex's Story

Alex is a military spouse married to a serving member of the Royal Air Force.

Frequent relocations and the unique demands of military life meant securing stable and meaningful employment, felt impossible.

Despite having a strong background in Project Management, Alex found it difficult to find a career that would meet her need for a flexible and remote position, to accommodate the unpredictable nature of military life.

Alex found RFS and within 2 months she secured a remote Project Management role within a tech company.

John's Story

John, a military spouse and ex-reservist, felt trapped in a cycle of dissatisfaction in work. While he had valuable experience and skills, he struggled to align these with fulfilling opportunities which would work around the unique challenges of military life.

John felt frustrated and unsure of how to move forward.

Through RFS, John joined our Coaching and Mentoring programme and was paired with an independent volunteer coach.

Together they worked through a series of sessions aimed at rebuilding John’s confidence, understanding his transferable skills and exploring career pathways that aligned with his aspirations.

"Without RFS I wouldn't have been able to get to where I am today. I have a career and a plan, being able to find a career while being a military spouse has been the best thing ever. Thank you." - Elizabeth
